At 10.30am UK time, Wednesday 9th March, all members of the public are invited to attend an emergency meeting on ethnic and religious persecution in India, being held online by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Genocide Prevention and the APPG on Freedom of Religion or Belief.

A joint statement released by the two APPGs ahead of the meeting says that “in recent weeks, hate speech, violence, and the threat of violence against ethnic and religious minorities has intensified to the degree that we now consider it high risk […] we invite you to this meeting to learn more, and discuss how we can work to support minorities in India, and prevent further violence.”
The meeting will be addressed by the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, Professor Fernand de Varennes, Ranjit Singh Srai from the World Sikh Parliament, and Dr John Newton from Aid for the Church in Need.
