After the killing stops, the consequence of genocide continues. Widows and orphans in remain disadvantaged eleven years later. We cannot turn back time and give these women and young people back the lives they once had, but we can at least try and restore their dignity.

 

Aside from the important work to acknowledge and raise awareness about the genocide in Rwanda, Aegis makes a contribution to rebuilding lives materially through a number of projects with partners in Rwanda.

Aegis and African Rights agree that we cannot document stories of survivors for education and for the media, then neglect to support them materially. Having been witnesses to the scarred bodies and wounded hearts of survivors we have been inspired by those who live when all trust in humanity should be extinguished.
